Growing Through Competition, Advancing Through Challenge

May was a month of steady progress for Team CYTO TRIGON.

From high-speed city criteriums and demanding mountain climbs to key selection races that shape future national team opportunities, the team continued to take on a wide range of challenges while delivering strong results across multiple disciplines.

More importantly, beyond the results themselves, each race provided valuable experience, sharper race awareness, and continued growth for every rider.

96 League – Taipei Criterium｜Back to the Heart of Urban Racing

The 96 League is one of Taiwan’s premier cycling series, and the Taipei Criterium is widely regarded as one of its most iconic city-center races.

Held around Tianmu Sports Park, the 2.4 km circuit featured fast corners, constant accelerations, and technical positioning battles, demanding explosive power, race intelligence, and tactical awareness.

Competing against a highly competitive field, Hung Ping-Yung delivered an impressive performance, finishing:

• 4th Overall
• 2nd in U23

His result highlighted the maturity and composure of a young rider competing at an elite level.

NeverStop Tataka Challenge｜A Test for Climbers

The NeverStop Tataka Challenge is one of Taiwan’s most prestigious climbing events.

Starting in Shuili and ascending the New Central Cross-Island Highway to Dongpu Mountain Parking Area, the race covers approximately 72 km with more than 2,300 meters of elevation gain, making it a true test of endurance and climbing ability.

Facing long hours of sustained effort and high-altitude conditions, Team CYTO TRIGON produced a series of strong performances:

• Huang Yu-Cheng｜5th Overall
• Hung Ping-Yung｜2nd U23
• Chen Chia-Yu｜3rd U23

For younger riders, Tataka is not only a physical challenge but also a valuable lesson in pacing, resilience, and mental strength.

Taoyuan Mayor’s Cup｜A Step Toward Higher-Level Competition

The Taoyuan Mayor’s Cup is one of Northern Taiwan’s most important road cycling events and a key race for riders pursuing ranking points and national team opportunities.

The course stretches across Daxi and Fuxing Districts, combining fast flats, rolling terrain, and short punchy climbs that demand complete all-around ability.

Once again, Hung Ping-Yung delivered an outstanding result:

• 2nd Overall
• 1st in U23

A performance that further demonstrated his ability to compete alongside Taiwan’s top elite riders.

Rising Talent｜Hung Ping-Yung (Yuri) 

One of the most impressive stories of the season has been the emergence of Hung Ping-Yung (Yuri).

At only 18 years old and in his first year with Team CYTO TRIGON, Yuri has already achieved remarkable results across three major selection races:

• 4th Overall – Taipei Criterium
• 8th Overall – NeverStop Tataka
• 2nd Overall – Taoyuan Mayor’s Cup

What makes these results even more remarkable is that Yuri has only been racing for three years.

Since joining Team CYTO TRIGON last year, he has benefited from structured coaching, race planning, and team support, allowing him to develop far beyond his years.

Yuri credits much of his growth not only to improved training but also to learning how to understand racing itself—from pre-race tactics to post-race analysis. Every race has become an opportunity to identify weaknesses and build new strengths.

Off the bike, he approaches his development with the same discipline, carefully managing nutrition, studying training methods, and even learning English in preparation for future international opportunities.

After finishing 8th in the Junior Road Race at last year’s Asian Championships, Yuri is now stepping into the U23 ranks with even greater ambitions for the future.

Growing Together

For TRIGON, racing has never been solely about results.

What matters most is seeing athletes continue to improve, discover their rhythm under pressure, and gradually progress toward higher levels of competition.

From Ivan Chang to Yuri Hung and many other young riders, we see more than podium finishes—we see individuals willing to commit, learn, and keep moving forward.
